Working from live models, I create figure drawings that become the inspiration behind my mixed media collages. Each of the mixed-media collages is a process of construction and layering. I begin by creating a painting of a nude model and layering the figure with various materials including torn pages of fashion magazines and handmade paper.  

Other than the figurative beginning, I like to allow ideas to surface during the process of creating the piece.  It is an organic process that evolves as I draw the model and later build on the work in my studio.

The mixed media series is influenced by fashion magazines, fashion designers, textiles, movies, and pop culture.  The titles are sometimes fashion copy jargon stolen from Vogue.   

The series of monoprints is based on and represents a deconstruction of the original mixed media work.  These pieces are created by simplifying the original work down to its primary visual components and then adding or removing elements to create a series of unique prints.
